The Luke Daniels Trio brings together three distinctive voices in contemporary folk
music, combining virtuosic musicianship, inventive arrangements and a deep
connection to traditional music inspired by the button accordion style of the early
20th Century. Led by award-winning folk musician and composer Luke Daniels
(accordion/guitar/vocals), the trio features Matt Tighe (fiddle) and Luc McNally
(guitar/vocals), creating a dynamic sound between tradition and innovation. Their
Celtic Connections appearance will celebrate the launch of their new EP, Poll
Ha’Penny, showcasing the trio’s musical chemistry and fresh approach to folk
music.
They are joined by special guest Amy Laurenson, the virtuosic pianist from Shetland
and former BBC Radio Scotland Young Traditional Musician of the Year. A First-
Class Honours graduate of the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, Amy has performed
internationally at major festivals including Celtic Colours, Festival Interceltique de
Lorient, Viljandi and Cambridge Folk Festival. Her performance credits also include
appearances as a soloist with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra and Edinburgh
Symphony Orchestra, alongside her work as Musical Director for the international
production Irish Celtic.
