
Founded in 2002, SNYJO provides Scotland’s most promising young jazz musicians with the opportunity to develop their musicianship through the repertoire of jazz masters, from Ellington to Corea, Basie to Shorter, and from Miles to Metheny. Over the past two decades, SNYJO has supported the development of more than 140 young musicians.
SNYJO alumni include winners of the Scottish Album of the Year Award, BBC Young Jazz Musician and Young Scottish Jazz Musician of the Year, alongside recipients and nominees at the Scottish Jazz Awards, Jazz FM Awards and Mercury Prize. The orchestra’s recordings have received international acclaim and continue to feature on radio programmes around the world.
Now, the 2026/27 SNYJO is ready to make its mark. Expect exciting performances packed with creativity, energy and serious groove, as Scotland’s finest young jazz musicians come together to celebrate the enduring power of big band jazz.
