WINTERS WITH WILLIS….

A series of lunchtime concerts for early 2016 on the restored 1876 Father Willis organ.   Tickets £6.50 (inc. booking fee)

Father Willis Organ ConsoleWhen the ‘Father’ Willis was first opened at Dowanhill UP Church the Glasgow Herald warned that the organist should ‘beware of the powers at his command’.

This wonderful instrument was at risk when the building, now Cottiers, was taken over by Four Acres Charitable Trust in the 1980s.  But thanks to a grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund, this restored treasure can once again delight, enthrall and dazzle listeners with its great power and beauty.

Cottiers Organ smallWillis organs are famous for their qualities of boldness and brightness matched in this case by the boldness and brightness of Daniel Cottier’s decorative scheme.

We are thrilled to be able to host this series of lunchtime concerts, featuring some of the finest organists in the UK performing in the spectacular setting of Cottiers Theatre.
